More than 50,000 people have signed an online petition calling on the owners of luxury villas in Italy to allow guests from Thailand, Cambodia, India and other countries to stay at their villas.
“My heart is broken,” said one of the petitioners, Marjan Gudmundsson.
“We’re being forced to live in the middle of a war zone.
It’s really sad.”
The owners of the villas have until June 22 to respond to the petition.
The petition, which is being published in several languages, is seeking to highlight the negative impacts of the wars in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia on the people of the countries where the villa is located.
A villa in Venice, Italy.
The petition comes on the heels of the discovery of two large graves in Laos.
