VANCOUVER — Vacation rental companies, including vacation rentals, could be offering a cheaper option to Canadians who need a holiday rental deal.
The companies could offer deals that aren’t offered by hotels and vacation rentals in the U.S. or Canada, according to a report from the Canadian Travel Industry Association.
Vacation rental company Villa Vacations Inc. (VVCA) recently partnered with Expedia Inc. to launch its website Vacation Rentals in Vancouver.
The partnership allows Canadians to book a holiday trip in Vancouver and receive a discount on a hotel room and meals while they are in the city, according the Vancouver Business Journal.
VCA says it will offer discounts to Canadians of all ages, and the companies will offer a variety of discounts including $5 off airfare and $20 off meals and transportation.
Villa Vacations has been offering vacation rentals to Canadians since 2009.
Its Vancouver site is open to anyone over 18.
“It’s a really great opportunity for our Canadian customers to be able to book their vacation in Vancouver without the hassle of having to book at the hotel,” Villa Vacators president and CEO, Jason Vella, said in an interview.
The company’s website also shows a list of restaurants, shopping, attractions and other activities available in Vancouver that it says can be arranged on its website.
The site says that while Vacation Vacations is available in the greater Vancouver area, it does not have an active Vancouver branch.
“We’ve been expanding our presence in Vancouver, and our Vancouver location is a bit smaller than other Canadian cities,” Vella said.
Vella says it’s important to be prepared to find a vacation rental deal that fits your budget.
“The good news is that it’s a relatively easy process,” he said.
“It takes about 15 minutes to find the right deal.
It’s a lot of work, and it’s an opportunity to meet other vacation rental companies and learn from each other.”
Vella said the company has been working to grow its Vancouver presence.
“I think it’s really important that we grow our business and expand our footprint, so that we can be more competitive and bring more value to our customers.”
Villa Vasa is based in Vancouver but operates its own locations in New York, Florida and the Bahamas.
Vella says that’s part of why it decided to partner with Expie and its Vancouver website.
“Our Vancouver website is really the platform to connect with other vacation rentals around the world, and that is one of the biggest things that Expedia and Vacation Vasa are trying to do,” Vlla said.
He says Vacation Villas has been growing its presence in the Greater Vancouver area since 2010.
“Vacayas were first offered in the United Kingdom in 2012, and now in the Philippines, the Philippines is one our biggest markets,” he added.
“There are a lot more Vacayas in the market and they are expanding rapidly.
So, we really hope to be a part of that.
We’re definitely seeing more people coming to Vancouver and visiting our Vancouver website to book, and we’re also seeing more tourists come in.”
The Vancouver Business Report reported that Villa Vacation is the third-largest vacation rental company in Canada.
Valla Vacations, which owns Villa Vacages and Villa Vacancies International Inc., operates four sites in Vancouver: Villa Vacates, Villa Vacaciones and Villa Villa Resorts.
The businesses operate from locations in Vancouver; Halifax; and Toronto.
VVA did not respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press.
The Vancouver business report is published every other Monday.
